[Dream] 09

Dream effects: None really.
Notes/warnings: No real warnings (though I'm hoping Kyou-mun doesn't mind my letting Kuro dream him into the dream too. And ex-Toph-mun too XD). Anyone who plays lots of RPGs ICly though may feel like they are watching one, right down to the battle transition scene, the turn-based action and specialized roles. People viewing the dream can even hear battle music and victory music at the end of the fight LOL

Black and red armor glinted in the moonlight as it poured down between a break in the clouds. The rooftops around him and his party were wet and glistening from the abating storm and the young princess among them cautioned everyone to be careful of their footing.

"Perhaps we should move this engagement to the road then?" quipped the archer off to his left cheerfully, referring to the shadows encroaching from all sides along the roofs of the town.

They'd been tracked down, but that was fine. They'd been waiting for it. There was a slight nod from their leader, a young man skilled in martial combat and who wielded a sword of fire. The boy had gained respect from the armor-clad ninja early on and he'd decided to see him through his quest for it. After all, he was sure to encounter many strong opponents by tagging along with the little rag-tag party. The hero offered his hand to their small-framed healer princess and helped her down from the rooftop as the other two leapt down to join them on the road below. Just in time as well, as the shadowy figures moved as one and they were on them.

The scene swirled and unfocused before refocusing on the group, now in formation for combat. The tall swordsman took the forefront with the hero, while the archer stayed in the back ranks with the young princess. Facing them was a small contingent of shadows that writhed and took human shape with glowing green eyes. At first, no one moved before suddenly the boy did, darting forward and landing a few hits on the creature standing at the forefront. “Ah, Kuro-tan, the green must mean they are wind-types this time!” the archer supplied, lowering his hand, fingertip glowing blue with the light of magic just used and the ninja nodded and shifted the grip on his sword and preparing for an attack to just take them all out in one fell swoop. In the meantime, several of the shadows darted forward and raked clawed hands out at the boy before falling back again. He didn't cry out at the attack, but remained quiet, bleeding slightly, but ready to fight again.

"Syaoran-kun!" The girl however, did shout out the boy's name when she saw the blood and stepped forward, clasping her hands together. A soft light enveloped the hero as the girl's magic began to heal his wounds, feathers swirling gently around him before they blew away in the wind. The moment she stepped back once more, Kurogane's feet slid into place, broadening his stance and swung his sword in a wide arc, throwing up the ground itself into the creatures, which obliterated the shadows. They didn't stand a chance against an earthen attack being wind-types in nature. The group took a short moment to rest when their smallest member reappeared, bounding in as a blur of white before hopping up and down on the archer's shoulder cheerfully. "Everyone did it! Mokona's so relieved! Our family is so strong, ne~?"

"You always disappear when danger shows up, tch," the ninja grouched as the archer just laughed and gave the strange white familiar a loving pat. "They really are, Mokona!"

Now that they were all assemled again, they started to move on ahead toward the castle in the distance, only to be stopped once more. This time by a familiar face though. A young man of the same age as Syaoran was smirking down on them from above, standing over them upon one of the roofs. "I should hope you guys could handle the likes of them," he said, arms crossed in front of him.

"Kyou-san!" the girl cried out to him, clearly relieved and happy to see the man. They had parted ways after a brief joint-venture, but here he was again before them.

He just gave her a nod and crouched at the edge of the roof, attention back to the men as if he wasn't sure how to talk to the young woman. "You guys finally caught up, huh?"

Syaoran nodded to him with a determined look flashing in his eyes. "We'll stop that man no matter what. We won't let him hurt any more of the people of this world."

The red-headed boy tilted his head consideringly a moment before swinging down from the roof and dropping to the ground before them. "I can't find a way into the castle on my own... I guess I'll join you all after all.... For now anyway. Once we're in, I have something of my own to take care of." He had a look on his face as if he dared any of them to object.

"Just don't slow us down, kid. I don't plan on saving you again," the otherwise quiet swordsman said, a smirk of his own curling his lips.

He got a scoff in answer and grumblings that that was a fluke and he hadn't needed saving at their first meeting at all and like he'd slow them down, hmph!

And with that, Kyou joined their party once more and they all turned their gazes to the castle, where they knew one of the elemental masters waited within, imprisoned and exploited for their powers. "Sage Toph, we're on our way!" Syaoran murmured, a fist clenching at his side. They would free the earth elemental genius, the great blind sage Toph from within and from there, they could ask her to open the way to the underground to find that man and put a stop to him, once and for all....

*Kurogane blinked his eyes open slowly, frowning a little upon seeing the light of the Dreamberry screen not far from his head in the still dark room he'd started sharing with the magician. He growled under his breath in annoyance and reached out to shut the thing down, not bothering to check what it had recorded right then. He'd deal with it in the morning...*
